VOLCANO REGARDED AS EXTINCT.

The inhabitants of a district near Chanchora, in the centre of the Gwalior State, are panic-stricken by the sudden activity of a volcano regarded as extinct for centuries. At night-time a giant pillar of flame from the crater is visible for miles and in the day-time dense volumes of smoke are seen. At intervals earth tremors are felt.
