ALLEGED THEFTS

NUMEROUS CHARGES. GANG OF YOUTHS. (Per United Press Association.) Hamilton, January 23. The existence of a gang of eight young desperadoes who have been committing an extensive series of crimes in the Hamilton district over the last three months has been revealed and numerous charges will shortly be preferred against them. Many of the thefts concern the unlawful conversion of motor-cycles, while shop-breaking episodes in Hamilton and Frankton, which have been alarming householders for some time, are alleged to have been sheeted home to these eight, whose ages range from 15 to 17. Some of the youths may come before the Magistrate’s Court, but on account of their ages, the majority will be tried before the Children’s Court.
