MISHAP TO FARMER.

Ashburton, January 22.

Percy Henry Read, a married man, aged 38, a farmer, residing at Eiffelton, caught a foot in the drum of a header harvester, and his leg was drawn into the machine. He was rushed to hospital, where the leg was amputated at the knee. His condition is satisfactory. SINGLE MAN KILLED. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, January 22. Percy Halford, aged 27, single, whosie parents reside at Waituna West, was killed near Kimbolton to-day when a lorry laden with logs plunged over a bank as it was endeavouring to pass a car at a bend in the road.
