INVERCARGILL BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Invercargill branch of the W.D.F.U. was held in the Girl Guide Rooms on Friday, the 18th, when Mrs Arnott presided over a good attendance of members. The secretary was instructed to make arrangements for members to visit the Karitane Hospital on February 15. A discussion took place as to the advisability of holding a picnic, but owing to the busy season approaching it was decided to visit the Children’s Health Camp instead on Friday, January 25. All members wishing to visit the camp are asked to take a basket. The time and place from which the bus will leave for the camp will, be advertised in Wednesday’s papers. An amusing and interesting roll call, “My greatest mistake in cooking or baking,” was held after which Mrs Smart, Winton, gave a very instructive demonstration on papier mache work, showing how to make plates, baskets, bowls, vases etc. A vote of thanks was accorded the demonstrator by the president on behalf of the gathering.
