INDIA’S CONGRESS

“BRITISH RULE A HINDRANCE.”

(United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.40 p.m.) Calcutta, January 21. The Indian National Congress, meeting at Delhi, while expressing good wishes for the personal well being of the King, calls on all Indians not to participate in the celebrations of the King’s Jubilee on the ground that the British rule in India “is a positive hindrance to the political, moral and material growth of the nation which is now threatened by a constitution which, if enforced, promises to exploit the nation and drain her of what wealth she still possesses, bringing her under political subjection as perhaps never hitherto attempted.”
