MORE CONFIDENT OUTLOOK.

The Sun-Herald Service says: “Although the French buying at the London wool sales has been disappointing, the German activity, and also Russia s re-entry to the Bradford Merino market is causing a more confident outlook.” , The Yorkshire Post points out that the heavy woollen industry has not yet completed its requirements for the Spring trade which is expected to be substantial.

GOOD COMPETITION.
(United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.55 pm.) Sydney, January 21. At the wool sales 11,745 bales were offered and 10,395 sold, also 614 privately. There was good general competition and prices for all free wellgrown descriptions were fairly well maintained, but with this exception, that the market was five per cent, below the closing levels of last week Greasy Merino made to 16ja. ine average price of wool last week was £l2 8/8 a bale, equal to 9.7 d per lb.
