NEW HANGAR

HOBSONVILLE AIR BASE. ERECTION APPROVED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 21. The erection of the second landplane hangar at the Hobsonville Air Base, Auckland, has been approved by the Government and the contract has

been given to the Fletcher Construction Company. Its main dimensions are: Length, 125 ft; width, 86ft. The doors are to open the full length of the hangar and give a height clearance of 20 feet. Annexe one will give accommodation for a flight as well as provide a store, workshop, armoury, pilots’ dressing-room and flight-commander’s office. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. J. G. Cobbe) says the erection of the hangar is part of the defence development plan decided on by the Government during last year. Much-needed hangars at Hobsonville and Wigram require to be put up ready for the new Air Force machines now arriving in the Dominion.
