W.C.T.U,
The fiftieth annual meeting of the Central branch of the W.C.T.U was held in the Methodist Sunday School parlour on Tuesday, November 6, there being a good attendance of members. Matthew, and spoke on “Obedience and Mrs Fairbairn read the Bth Chapter. Faith,” her address being very inspiring to the listeners. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: President, Mrs R*. R. MacGregor; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Matheson and J. J Brown; corresponding secretary, Mrs Wesney; recording secretary, Mrs B. Walker; treasurer, Mrs Stevens; pianist, Miss Treloar; superintendents, cradle roll, Mesdames Millard and Rilstone; White Ribbon, Mrs Brass; backblocks and anti-gambling, Mrs Fenton; new membership, Mrs Swift; notable days, Mrs Boyd; philanthropic. Miss Brass.
The president read the annual report of the National Council of Women. The union is proud to have two J.P.’s and members of the Charitable Aid Board as long standing members of the union.
For the year fourteen new members have been enrolled and fifty-three infants on the cradle roll, making it a very successful year. Mrs MacGregor moved a motion of sympathy with Mrs Boyes in the death of her mother.
At the close of the meeting Mrs R. McKay presented Mrs MacGregor with a beautiful bouquet from the ladies of the union. Mrs MacGregor suitably replied.
