RETURNED SOLDIERS

GORE ASSOCIATION MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. At the fortnightly meeting of the executive of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association on Tuesday night Mr L. Roberts presided. The president moved votes of condolence and Sympathy with Messrs A. and H. Cockburn in the recent loss of their brother, and with Messrs A. and D. R. Mclntyre in the recent loss of their father. These were carried in the customary manner by members standing in silence for a few moments. The hospital visiting sub-committee reported on its visits to the sick members during the past fortnight. The committee was thanked for its report, and Messrs Stewart and McDowell were appointed a visiting committee for the next term.

The secretary reported that the financial membership now stood at 282, as’ against 271 last meeting night and 286 at the corresponding period last year. In two cases of acute distress payments of £3 and £2 from the relief funds were authorized.

The secretary, Flock House Provincial ’ Committee, Dunedin, wrote forwarding a list of the names of eight boys-trained at Flock House and now employed in the Gore and West Otago districts. The writer stated that it would be very highly appreciated if occasional visits could be paid and contact kept with the farmers. A copy was forwarded to the West Otago SubAssociation and it was arranged for the Gore farmers to be visited when convenient.

The general secretary forwarded the financial membership ladder of all New Zealand association as at September 30. Gore occupied eighteenth position with 248 financial members.

The Rev. C. E. P. Webb, of Holy Trinity Church, wrote stating that he was holding Armistice commemoration services next Sunday, and extended a hearty invitation to members of the Gore R.S.A. to attend.—The matter was left to individual members, the secretarv to write a letter of thanks for the invitation.
