EXCHANGE SCHEME TRAVEL AND STUDY OVERSEAS REGULATIONS GAZETTED (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, November 8. The regulations relating to the exchange of New Zealand teachers with teachers from another part of the British Empire are contained in a Gazette issued to-night. The regulations provide that the Education Department of New Zealand shall act as intermediary to effect the exchange. The exchange shall be for a period of one year, exclusive of travelling time, but in special circumstances further leave without pay may be granted. New Zealand teachers selected for the exchange will be required to undertake to return to New Zealand education service for a period of at least three years. No applicant will be accepted for exchange who is not 25 years of age or has less than five years’ teaching experience, exclusive of service as a probationer or student, or is over 45. The education authorities abroad will be asked to submit reports on the character of the work done by New Zealand teachers. On their return to New Zealand teachers will be required to furnish the Director with a report on their work and experiences abroad.
