CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS’PARTY.

Last Friday evening the Balfour Branch of the Plunket Society held a Children’s Fancy Dress Party in the local hall.- The President, Mrs R. T. Wilson, assisted by an enthusiastic and efficient committee, made the function a most enjoyable one for all children present. The following was the prize list: — Girls (1 to 5 years), Sally Orr; boys (1 to 5), Rae Leitch; girls (5 to 8), Clarice Barker; boys (5 to 8), Greville Henderson; girls (8 to 13), Merle McGregor; boys (8 to 13), Jim McDonald. Most original costume (boy), Henry McMath, (girl) Daphne Savage. A. special prize was awarded to Sylvia Proctor. At a suitable interval Mr R. T. Wilson thanked the public for their support, making special mention of the large number and variety of costumes, stating that credit was due to the enthusiastic committee who had combined so well to make the evening such a pleasurable one for the children. He also mentioned the popularity of the District Plunket Nurse, N. Simms, who was then presented with a floral bouquet by little Betty Wilsdn, as a small" token of appreciation. He then thanked a local orchestra who were giving their services for the dance which followed, and also the Pipe Band for being in attendance, also any others who had assisted making the function such an outstanding success, both socially and financially. Supper was then served and a dance followed with music by a local dance band and extras by Mr Rae Sutherland. The following programme was submitted by some of the local school children.—•
