The Tamatea sailed for Stewart Island at 10.15 a.m. yesterday and returned In the afternoon, berthing before 5 p.m. The Union Company’s steamer Waikouaiti arrived at Bluff from Sydney, via Hobart, yesterday afternoon with Australian mails, timber and general cargo. She is expected to finish working and sail to-night for Dunedin. The Harbour Board’s tugs Awarua and Southland left yesterday for Port Chalmers where the latter will go into dock. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s motor liner Waiwera finished her Southland loading yesterday and sailed shortly after 2 p.m. for Gisborne. Excellent weather prevailed while the vessel was. in port at Bluff on her maiden visit and work was carried out under very pleasant conditions. The Wingatui was expected to leave Lyttelton at 5.30 p.m. yesterday for Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at Bluff on Friday. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s passenger ship Rotorua, which left Auckland for Londori on October 15, arrived at Panama on November 5. The tanker Ahamo is reported to have cleared Los Angeles for New Zealand. With a cargo of motor spirit for the Shell Company, the Dutch motor-tanker Phobos left Balik Papan on October 21 for Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland about November 8. Keith as assistant purser in the Tamahine. Mr R. Reynolds has joined the Holmglen as second engineer, relieving Mr T. Beck. Mr G. M. Schofield has replaced Mr H. M.
