WAIPANGO NOTES

BASKETBALL CLUB MEETING. Owing to the fact that the Waipango Basketball Club, which for the past year has been working in conjunction with the Waipango Tennis Club, has now become a separate club, a special meeting was held on Monday night to elect office-bearers for the ensuing year. Miss B. Cormack presided over a fair attendance of members. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Miss B. Cormack; secretary, Miss B. Brice; committee, Misses A. Willis, D. Guise, J. Rutherford, M. Trail, I. Cleaver, M. McKenzie C. Willis and K. Guise; delegates to sub-association, Misses B. Cormack and A. Willis. The resignation of Mr B. Smith, who for the past year has acted as referee and delegate for the club, was received with regret. It was stated that the club had every reason to be satisfied with the team’s activities during the past season, for although it was the team’s first season in competitive basketball the team secured third place in the sub-associ-ation’s competition. Good performances were also put up at all tournaments held by clubs in the Riverton SubAssociation.

Three players, Misses M. Trail, B. Brice and I. Cleaver, were selected for junior sub-association honours, while Miss B. Cormack was selected for the senior sub-association representative team.
