BURGLARY CHARGES
TWO ACCUSED AGAIN APPEAR. CASE ADJOURNED. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, September 20. On charges of burglary Arthur Cudby, -aged 30, and Mervyn John Cudby, aged 32, again appeared in the Police court. Detective Waterson said that Mervyn Cudby when shown the list of houses broken into, denied that he had anything to do with the breaking into of any of the houses. He said that he would plead guilty to being in possession of housebreaking instruments, but deny breaking into any houses. Questioned regarding the large sum of money possessed by him and his wife and how he got the money, seeing that he had not been working for a considerable time, he said he had won it backing racehorses, backing with two bookmakers. He admitted that he had not been working for twelve months. Detective Waterson said that he found at Mr Sterling’s house _ a heel mark which corresponded with the rubber heel of a boot found at Mervyn Cudby’s house. The case was adjourned till October 2.
