TWO COLLISIONS
CARS AND CYCLES. ACCIDENTS IN CITY. Two separate accidents, neither of which was of a serious nature but both involving cyclists, occurred on Monday. At about 11 o’clock in the morning Mr Arthur Charles Carman, city electrical engineer and manager of the tramways, was motoring along Liddell street when a man on a bicycle, Mr Michael Ward, of Tay street, is understood to have skidded in some loose gravel. He fell to the ground and the car passed over one of his legs. He was taken to his home by Mr Carman, where his injuries were attended to. In the afternoon Mr Robert K. Parsens, a local coal merchant, was driving along in the vicinity of St. Andrew’s street when, it is stated, he mistook the direction a lady cyclist in front of him, Thelma M. Gough, was going to take and before he could pull up he struck her rear mudguard. Miss Gough was thrown to the ground and sustained slight injuries.
