MISS JEAN BATTEN
“A DELIGHTFUL GUEST.” (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 15. The Minister of Finance, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, has received the following personal cablegram from the Hon. J. F. Coates, a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council: "Before leaving for Melbourne, Miss Jean Batten, from her limited leisure, has graciously given much time in assisting charities, including a cabaret arranged by the Sydney combined committees representing the New South Wales Hospital, Dalwood Health Home and St. Margaret’s Hospital for women for food for the babies fund. It was a great gathering. Desire to compliment New Zealand people on their delightful guest, who so charmingly represents them.”
VISIT TO FEDERAL CAPITAL. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.35 p.m.) Sydney, June 15. Miss Jean Batten arrived at Canberra in an aeroplane piloted by Captain Ross to-day and was officially welcomed to the Federal capital by Cabinet. Later she went to Goulbum, where she was accorded a civic welcome.
