WATER SHORTAGE
DROUGHT IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, June 7. Mr G. Shakespeare stated in the House of Commons that the position regarding the water shortage over a large part of the country in north-east Wales and the west and south-west of England as well as part of the Midlands was generally bettei- than a month ago. He had no reason to think that the undertakings would not be able to meet the situation provided consumers continued to make reasonable economies in the use of water.
