VAGRANT VERSE
O HAPPINESS'. (Written for The Southland Times.) Fairies dancing in the grasses, green and gold with sunlight glancing through the grass and gaily chancing glances from the eye that passes. I could see them, hear their singingcataracts of jewels falling, heard them sing and heard them calling, cadence fall and upward flinging? Could I see them? Hear them after I was mortal? Was I hearing echo’s craft tuithin the clearing—hearing sunlight in your laughter? —SHAUN O’SULLIVAN. Invercargill, June 8, 1934.
