FIRST RECEPTION

SOVIET AMBASSADOR WASHINGTON EMBASSY REOPENED FIVE HUNDRED GUESTS (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Washington, April 10. Under a new flag, but with much of the old imperial pomp, the Russian Ambassador, M. Troyanovsky, held his first official reception at the Soviet Embassy to-night. Five hundred guests, including Supreme Court judges, Cabinet members, among whom was Mr Cordell Hull (Secretary of State), lesser officials of the Diplomatic Corps, partook of chef d’ouvres far exceeding in variety the simple refreshments offered at White House.

This is the first time the Embassy has been opened in 13 years. It contained many art objects of the Czarist days, the only notable change being the reconstruction of one of the rooms. The Ambassador is now at business in his office with a bust of Lenin conspicuous among the decorations.
