SHORTAGE OF WATER
PREVENTION OF WASTE.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 8.5 p.m.) London, April 11. The text of the Government’s Drought Emergency Bill has been issued and it is hoped to pass all stages at a rush rate as it is regarded as a measure of urgency, particularly as far as North Wales, Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire are concerned. Only abnormal rains can make the emergency measures unnecessary, so the Government is taking drastic steps to prevent a wastage of water from weirs to reservoirs.
