Leaving Bluff at 10.15 a.m., she is due to return to connect with the 6.18 p.m. train for Invercargill. No shipping movements were reported at Bluff yesterday, but this morning the Waikouaiti is due from Sydney and' this evening the Karepo from Wellington. The Union Company’s Waimarino sailed from Lyttelton at 2 p.m. yesterday for Dunedin and Bluff, being due here to-morrow morning. She sails again to-morrow evening for Dunedin. The Poolta leaves Wellington on Friday next for Bluff direct. She is due here on Sunday evening, sailing again on Monday for Wellington, Napier and Gisborne via ports. J . The local agents of the company advise that the Shaw Savill liner Fordsdale is due to arrive at Bluff from London on Saturday, April 28, in ballast. At Bluff she will load meat, dairy produce and general cargo, and on completion sails for Timaru. The local agents. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Co., advise that the Canterbury Steam Shipping Company’s motor coaster Breeze will berth at Bluff from Wellington on April 16, sailing again the same day for Dunedin. Recently Sir John Masefield made an appeal for information to enable him to compile a history of the White Star Line, which more than seventy years ago. under the control of Pilkington and Wilson, of Liverpool, commenced the construction of its fleet. The Ceramic is to-day the sole survivor of the White Star Line in the Australian service. She also claims the distinction of having the largest cargo-carrying capacity of any vessel in this service, although she is one of the oldest passenger liners trading here. She made her maiden voyage to Australia in 1913, and was taken over by the Commonwealth Government in 1914 and refitted as a troopship, subsequently taking thousands of Australians to Gallipoli. and Europe. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the Rangitiki. which left Wellington on March 16, for London, sailed from Colon on April 4. The Union Company advises that the Narbada left Calcutta on April 3 for Rangoon, Penang. Singapore, and Samarang to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about May 8, and at Dunedin about May 18. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr L. Blomfield has joined the Waipahi as second engineer in place of Mr E. W. Mackley, who has transferred to the Kexeraneu as chief engineer. . Mr F. McConville has reiomed the Poolta as chief engineer after holiday leave. Mr E. H. Church, who has been on holiday leave, has joined the R.M.S. Niagara as third engineer. Mr C. Scott, third engineer of the Wingatui, is ashore on sick leave, his place being taken by Mr R. D. Paul. Mr E. Sunderland, fourth engineer of the Waikouaiti, is ashore on sick leave, and has been replaced by Mr A. G. Lorimer. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
