SHOT IN HEAD. (Per United Press Association.) Tc Aroha, April 9. While shooting on Saturday evening, Ronald Stockley, aged 23, slipped and received the charge from his gun in the head, causing his instantaneous death. . He is survived by his widow and an infant. YOUTH SERIOUSLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) Oamaru, April 9. Allan Mould, aged 17, was seriously injured yesterday when a rifle went off as he was getting through a fence at Kakanui, and the bullet entered his side. . He was taken to hospital, where his condition is reported to be serious. MOTOR CYCLES COLLIDE. (Per United Press Association.) Waimate, April 9. As a result of one swerving to avoid a stray horse, two motor cyclists collided head-on at Makikihi on Saturday evening. Thomas Stoddart, aged 27, sustained a broken leg and severe body injuries, and John Rathgen, aged 23, of Waimate, severe head injuries, a broken wrist, and a broken leg. Stoddart is a motor-cycle salesman of Timaru. He was transporting a cycle in a special side-car attached to his machine, and Rathgen’s machine struck Stoddart’s between the engine and the side-car. Both were taken to hospital in a critical condition, but improved today. DROWNED WHILE FISHING. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, April 9. Edward Glenlivet Elliott, aged about 58. a married man, was drowned while fishing off Buckland’s Beach this morning. Calls were heard for help, and another boat rescued Elliott from the water, but he died. Eliott was a well-known resident ot the district. He was formerly a prominent sharebroker in Auckland, retiring in 1921. BODY FOUND IN BED. (Per United Press Association.) Hamilton, April 9. The body of a widower, Matthew Gibb, aged 58, who was employed at a sawmill at Waingaro, was found in a whare this morning with a .22 rifle alongside the body, which was in bed. The deceased had been in ill-health lately.
