INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE. EFFORTS TO RAISE PRICES. (United Press Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) Rome, April 6. The International Wheat Committee has commenced its sittings. It is seeking an agreement to raise the price by reducing exports or not selling abroad below a pre-determined price. The discussions were devoted to progress in implementing the wheat agreement and reporting on the crop situation. The American carry-over will probably' amount to 100,000,009 bushels. The Australian wheat area will proably.be reduced; Argentina is not restricting cultivation; Canada’s is 15 per cent, lower; Russia is substituting wheat for rye; and Germany has slightly reduced her area. Britain’s increased area of G per cent, sown would lead to a pro rata reduction in the subsidy.
