Welcome Rain,

Following a lengthy period of very dry weather, rain began to fall on Christmas Eve and continued at intervals right throughout the holidays. At times the rain was very heavy, sometimes interspersed with hail and snow on the higher levels, and although putting a damper on outdoor functions, proved very beneficial to turnip crops and the growth of grass. At times the .veather was very cold and losses of newly-born sheep have been reported. Shearing is now progressing, with frequent interruptions, and if not finished soon will clash with the grass harvest.
