RECEPTION GIVEN

GERMAN CONSUL-GENERAL.

(Per United Press Association.)

Auckland, January 8. Dr R. Asmiss, German ConsulGeneral, was given a reception at the German Club. In an address he said he had in general to deal with three groups—first, German nationals, secondly, British subjects of German descent, and thirdly, German clubs. To the first group he said it was their absolute duty to stand firmly behind the leaders of the nation, President Hindenberg and Herr Hitler. The second group, above all, should be loyal to their adopted country. That, however. would be no bar to being also a good German at heart. The duty of all three groups was to cultivate good relations between the British and German peoples.
