JOINT WELCOME
MR ULM AND LIEUT. ENGLISH.
(Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 8. An official reception was accorded Mr C. T. P Ulm and Lieut. English, Commander of the Bear of Oakland, in the Prime Minister’s room. The Hon. J. A. Young welcomed them on behalf of the Government and said it was very, fitting that a joint welcome should be extended to the two guests as both were pioneers in the interests of science which knew no international boundaries.
Mr Ulm referred to the hospitality extended him on his visit to New Zealand with Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and said the present tour was giving him an opportunity of renewing old acquaintances. Lieut. English also expressed very keen appreciation of the assistance Rear Admiral Byrd and himself were receiving, both from individuals and the Government.
