A LIFE OF INCIDENT
MAYOR WHO SOLD MUFFINS. The new Mayor of Tynemouth, England, when he was a boy, sold muffins and newspapers in the streets of Rochonly 37, Mr Stanley Holmes has had a life packed full of incident. He became a mill worker when he left school. He joined the force at the outbreak of the war. In three months he was the youngest sergeant in the army, and he got his commission two years later. He was wounded four times. After the war Mr Holmes became interested in politics, and nine years ago he took up his present post as organizing secretary of the Tynemouth Liberal Association. He will be the youngest mayor in the history of Tynemouth.
