TRAGEDIES OF WAR
INNOCENT MEN EXECUTED. Paris, December 17. Military courts now reviewing painful tragedies of the Great War have discovered the innocence of several soldiers who were executed as deserters or traitors.
One was executed in 1914 on a charge of having wilfully shot off a finger of his left hand. Evidence of comrades now shows that the enemy inflicted the wound; consequently his widow has been awarded a pension of £l2O a year.
