McNAUGHTON & CO.
THE PLACE FOR GIFTS. Heigh-Ho! The merry old Christmas season is right upon us again bringing its gifts of holiday and festivity_and, of course, the time-honour-ed custom of giving presents. There’s exhilaration in the very thought, isn’t there? Small gifts, little mementoes of past friendship, just to show that old times and old friends are not forgotten. And where better to go for such gifts than to a stationer’s, and you’re certainly on the right track if you visit McNaughton and Co., Esk street. Do you not recollect you went along to that
shop last year and how delighted your friends were with the presents you purchased from them? You see, McNaughton’s go out of their way to have a splendid array of appropriate gifts and nothing “trashy” is ever offered to the shoppers. First of all you will find a profusion of fancy boxed
stationery and writing compendiums to choose from. Everyone is more or less of a scribe these days so such a gift would always be “just the thing.” The boxes in which the attractive letter paper reposes are so serviceable, too—many of them are made of good, strong cardboard and are quite useful to store your trinkets in or to have on your dressing table as handkerchief boxes. Something a little dearer? Well, what about the bridge player. Who does not play bridge these days? Add to her accessories with a tastefully-designed scorer or novel pencils or perhaps with a pack of playing cards of excellent linen finish. A very attractive line, again, is the collection of suede articles such as book covers, book ends, shopping lists and so on—real keepsakes. Fountain pens there are of all sorts and sizes and all prices. The recognized makes—Sheaffer, Onoto, Waterman and Swan—are well represented and the colourings are very attractive. Pen and pencil sets, too, make excellent presents especially as they always look so good though the prices are so very reasonable. For men there are always useful wallets, diaries and tobacco pouches. Remember, at McNaughton and Co., Esk street.
