STATIONERY, POTTERY, LEATHER GOODS, TOYS AND GAMES This shop might well be named “The Gift Shop” for its superb, comprehensive, and well displayed stocks provide gift goods for the whole family from grandfather and mother to the latest cradled infant and all their friends as well. Christmas would not be Christmas without books and here are to be found thousands of volumes including the latest fiction and travel books, leather editions and piles of gorgeous annuals and lovely story and picture books for children. In addition to the display of children’s books on the ground floor an extension department on the second floor, reached by an easy stairway, provides a wonderful collection of juvenile volumes. This exhibition should not be missed.

Give Boolcs—Give Pleasure is so true, and books are so easily packed, carried or sent, that the huge Christmas stocks of good-books-to-give in this emporium are in for a great thinning this week. Here, too, will be found what the manufacturers call the

“write” gift in dainty boxes of good stationery that sell from 9d to 9/6 for very handsome boxes. Right and left in this department one sees fountain pens by the score in attractive shades and sets and playing cards and diaries and Christmas Cards and Calendars whose friendly greetings will bear the Christmas message to thousands of homes from thousands of other homes. The crockery department now introduces itself to this inspector. and here are lots of good things to give—black cats for luck—cups and saucers—and tea sets and beautiful dinner services —and bowls and vases —and pictures for the wall. And over there a most attractive lot of handbags and nick-nacks for, it would seem, all the stocking filling of the province. And this gift shop also caters most triumphantly for The Boys and Girls. There are Meccano sets, Hornby trains, chemical outfits, pencil sets, Reeves paint boxes, painting books, pocket knives. And upstairs in a special Santa Claus Department are toys by the thousand. Wooden toys—dolls—mechanical toys—Daisy air guns—and hosts of attractive novelties from 3d, 6d, 1/up to the limits of the fattest purse. At Hyndman’s, Dee street, will be found good goods and good service and easy-buying prices.
