RIVERTON

Mrs Foster, Invercargill, is visiting her sister, Mrs J. Winton. Mr and Mrs L. Bromby have taken up residence at the seaside. At the card evening in aid of the Anglican Church funds, Miss Woodward was first and Mrs W. Leader Second in the ladies’ class, while the men’s honours went to Messrs E. Eade and W. Spencer. Those present were: Mesdames Spencer (2), J. Winton, Leader, C. Gray, Trembath, Hopwood, Macdougall, Misses Leader and Woodward, Messrs Cook, Bulman, Spencer, Thomas, Paget, Patterson, Macdougall, Eade.

Visitors at the Beach House, the Rocks, include the following: Mrs Wilding and three children (Ohai), Mrs Fleming (Invercargill), Misses Lambert and Rattle (Milanda Downs), Mr and Mrs Parks (Dunedin), Mr and Mrs Lister (Invercargill), Miss Buchanan (Dunedin). Mrs Mcßae, Stratford, is visiting her sister, Mrs S. Evans. Mrs H. C. Johnstone has returned from a trip to Otago Central. Miss Una Borland, daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Borland, passed in history for the first section of the BA degree at the recent university examinations. Mrs S. Learmont, of Gore, who has been staying with Mr and Mrs George Brown, South Riverton, has returned home.

Misses Rita Hodges, Toi Toi Bend, and May Hodges, Lochiel, were the

guests of Mr and Mrs W. Hodges, Longwood, during the week-end. Miss Hanley, of the Southland Hospital staff, has been spending a holiday at the Rocks.

Miss J. Galloway, Dunedin, spent a few days with her sister, Miss Galloway, Havelock street, during the week. Mrs J. McDonald and family, Invercargill, are spending a holiday at the Rocks. Nurse Rose, of the Southland Hospital, has been visitng her aunt, Mrs N. Bailey, South Riverton.
