MIDDLE AGED COUPLE POISONED.

Auckland, December 18

As a result of eating cooked tongue which is thought to have been contaminated, a middle aged couple, Mr and Mrs A. Neithe of Church street, Onehunga, were admitted to the Auckland hospital suffering from ptomaine poisoning. The tongue which had been cooked at home was eaten at lunch and while working in the garden late in the afternoon, Mr Neithe suddenly collapsed with severe pains. Medical assistance was obtained and he was ordered to hospital, but when the ambulance arrived Mrs Neithe also was suffering from the effects of poison and both husband and wife were taken to the hospital. Their condition to-night was considered to be not serious.
