WORTH A MILLION
RAIN IN CANTERBURY. BENEFIT TO CROPS. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, December 18. As a result of beneficial rains in Canterbury over the week-end the value of the wheat yields will go up by many thousands of pounds. One authority stated the rain was worth a million pounds in grain seed and improved pastures. The average wheat yield should be 30 bushels. The rain was badly needed.
DROUGHT BROKEN
RAIN IN TARANAKI.
(Per United Press Association.)
New Plymouth, December 18. After a drought of 19 days beneficial rain fell throughout Taranaki last night, freshening the pastures and filling the water tanks. Further falls are necessary, however, to prevent a continuation of the parched condition.
