The schooner Britannia sailed for Dog Island at 9.55 a.m. yesterday and returned at 11.40 a.m. She carried mail each way. A quiet time is being experienced by watersiders at present. The first expected arrival is that of the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mahia from Brisbane on Wednesday. The Federal Line vessel Hertford will probably arrive on Friday, while the Union Company’s freighter, Waipiata is due on Thursday. The Federal Company advises that the Orari sailed from Liverpool in ballast on December 9 for Nev; Zealand, where she is expected about January 20. Her loading ports have not yet been decided. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company’s Akaroa left Auckland at daybreak on Wednesday on her return to Southhampton and London, via the Panama canal. The C. and D. Line’s Port Gisborne arrived at Lyttelton on Thursday from Gisborne. She is scheduled to sail from Wellington on December 22 for London, via Cape Horn and Dakar. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company’s Karamea left New Plymouth on Tuesday for Wanganui to continue loading for Home. She will later visit Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. The Vessel is to leave Lyttelton on December 30 for London, via the Panama canal. m The Benreoch arrived at Picton on Tuesday morning from Yokohama, via Port Kembla, to commence loading wool for Dunkirk, London, and Hull. She will also load at Picton. Napier, Gisborne, Tolaga Bay, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Port Chalmers. The tanker Vacuoline arrived at Dunedin on Friday afternoon from San Francisco, via Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She was berthed at the Victoria wharf to discharge bulk motor spirit into the Vacuum Oil Company's tanks. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
