GENERAL NOTES. The Tamatea sails for Stewart Island at 1.15 p.m. to-day. She returns to Bluff tomorrow evening. The local steamer Cowan, which has been undergoing overhaul at Port Chalmers, left the latter at 11.50 a.m. yesterday and should arrive at Bluff this morning. The Union Company's steamer Waimarino arrived from Dunedin a little before midday yesterday. She discharged and loaded general cargo and was expected to finish working last night and sail about midnight for Dunedin. The some company’s steamer Kanna finished her Southland loading of timber and general cargo for Australia at 4.45 p.m. yesterday and sailed later for Commonwealth ports via Greymouth. The Union Company’s intercolonial freighter Waikouaiti is due at Bluff tonight from Hobart. On board she will have Wirth's Circus and her arrivel will therefore create much interest, especially among the juveniles at the port. Melbourne for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. To commence Homeward loading, the C. and D. Line motor ship Port Dunedin arrived at Wellington last Sunday morning from Lyttelton. She was to sail on Wednesday for Auckland, Tokomaru Bay, and Lyttelton to complete, and is scheduled to clear there finally on December 22 for London, via Cape Horn and Dakar. The Canadian Cruiser, which left Lyttelton on October 27. passed through the Panama canal on November 18, and reached New York on November 26. She left two days later, arriving at Boston on November 29. On Friday last she sailed for Halifax, her final discharging port. The Benreoch, which is coming to New Zealand to load wool for Great Britain was due at Port KemSFa on Thursday to bunker before proceeding to Picton. Her loading ports in the Dominion will include Picton, Gisborne, Tolaga Bay, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Timaru. She may also call at Napier and Port Chalmers, although this has not yet definitely been decided. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
