AWARDS IN 273rd TEST. (a) Summer's Evening. Prizes of 4 marks and 2/- to Cousins Edith Mclnnes (14), Duke street and Enid Cockerell (13), Dimedin. Highly Commended and 3 marks to Cousins Connie Jellyman, Molly Hynd, Isabel! Ramsay, Moreen Cockerell, Chrissie Ross and Joan Holmes. Commended and 2 marks to Cousins Marjorie O'Donnell, Lilian Todd, Kenneth McKenzie, Annie Lawrie, Evelyn Cameron. COMMENTS. This subject gave you great scope for imaginative work and I was pleased with the entries. Do not become too flowing in your language, though, please avoid rushing adjectives and hackneyed phrases. I do not like “melodious din”—a din to, my mind, could never be melodious. (b) “What I Would Like for Christmas.” Prize of 4 marks and 3/- to Cousin Graeme Anderson (9), Don street. Prize of 4 marks and 2/- to Cousin Norman Shields (6), Kennington. Highly Commended. —3 marks to Cousins Joan Pilcher, Eileen Deaker, Pattie Smith, Eugenie McKenzie and Dulcie Lewis. Commended.—2 marks to Cousins Peggy Williamson, Alan Wards, Molly Thomson, Barbara Ramsay, Eva Moir, Margaret Hammond, Zoe Bates, Paul Mclnnes, Doreen Thomson, Harry Smith and Alison Mclnnes, COMMENTS. What do you think of our very wee cousin’s prize-winning entry? Nearly all of you seem to try for bicycles. I hope your dreams come true. 274th COMPETITION. (a) Poem for Cousins 13 and over—- “ Mrs Hen and Her Chicks.” (b) Story for Cousins 12 and under—- “ The Farmyard.” Entries cIose—TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28. Rules To Remember. 1. Write in ink on one side of the paper only. 2. There must be separate sheets for each competition. 3. Each cousin must work unaided and enter his or her own work, clearly marking it “original” or “my own work.” 4. Drawing must be in black ink, preferably Indian ink, and on drawing paper. 5. No one more than 16 years of age may compete in these classes unless otherwise stated. 6. Remember that spelling and neatness will be taken into account. 7.
