GALE'IN ENGLAND
HAVOC ON EAST COAST CLIFF COLLAPSES SHIPS FORCED TO SHELTER (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, October 27. The east coast gale is causing the worst storm in 25 years. Hundreds of tons of the cliff collapsed at Lowestoft, sending gardens tumbling into the sea, leaving houses within a few feet of the cliff edge. Thirty-feet waves washed the roof off the pier pavilion at Scarborough, where the sea front is littered with chimney pots and tiles. Bridlington Bay is crowded with sheltering ships.
