meeting of council. At the monthly meeting of the Free Kindergarten Council Miss Birss P re “ sided over the following members: Mesdames Chewings, Carman, Cochrane, Henderson, Grant, Edwards, Aldridge, Checketts, W. Wilson, Simpson, McKeever; Misses Selby and Isaacs. Miss Birss welcomed two new members to the council, Mrs D. Cochrane and Mrs R. Henderson. It was stated that all the kindergartens had good attendances for the month. Dr Abbott had visited the South Kindergarten and the health ot the children was very satisfactory. Street Day this year was a great success. The final results were not yet to hand, but over £lOO was collected. The council wished to place on record its thanks and appreciation to all who helped to make “Childrens Day the success it was. The following annual subscriptions were received with thanks:—R. A. Anderson £2 2/< the Hon. A. F. Hawke £1; J. B. Thomson £1 1/-; A. le H. Hoyles £1 1/-; J. D. Gilmore £1 1/-;J. Gilkison £1 1/-; N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co. Ltd., £1 1/-; Farmers Co-op. Ltd., 10/6; J. S. Marshall 10/-; J. Macdonald 10/6; Macintosh 10/-; Rodan Thomson 10/-; J. Hay 5/-; T. Watson 5/-; J. McCrostie 5/-; Dr MacIt was announced that Miss Lockwood had been appointed to “Wharepuna” with Miss Lindsay as assistant, Miss King to South with Miss Scandrett as assistant and Miss McKeever to “Children’s House” with Miss Chisholm as assistant. The rules of the Invercargill Free Kindergarten were read and approved. The rules are to be adopted at next monthly meeting. Visitors for the month were appointed.
