WAIMATUKU NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Waimatuku P.W.M.U. and Ladies’ Guild was held in the church. There were 45 ladies present, including visitors from Riverton, Thornbury and Waianiwa. Mr Galloway presided. Mrs J. Rance welcomed the visitors. The secretary read the reports and balance sheets for the year, which showed a very satisfactory credit balance. The election of officers resulted as follows President, Mrs Galloway; vice-presidents, Mrs Rance and Mrs Donaldson; secretary, Mrs A. Lindsay; treasurer, Mrs C. Brown; M. M. B. League secretary, Mrs P. Lindsay; stamp secretary, Mrs Hayes. An interesting address on missions was given by Sister Janet. During the afternoon the choir gave an anthem, Mesdames W. Buchanan’ and Hayes sang a vocal duet, and Mr Galloway presented a mandolin solo. Greetings from Riverton were conveyed by Mrs Gray, from Thornbury, by Mrs Officer and from Waianiwa by Mrs McDonald. Mrs J. Buchanan returned thanks to Sister Janet and the performers. The new school building is now well on the way towards completion and should be a distinct improvement on the old one. Waimatuku players who entered for the Otautau Labour Day tennis tournament acquitted themselves very well. Miss G. Lindsay and W. McKenzie won the final of the combined doubles against Miss de Clifford and A. McKenzie, of Riverton.
