MALE CHOIR

CONCERT TO-MORROW NIGHT. In many respects one of the most noteworthy concerts yet offered by the Invercargill Male Choir, will take place in the Civic Theatre to-morrow (Tuesday) evening. The choir for the first time, will be under its new honorary conductor, Dr. Stanley Brown, and should make a striking impression. The wide variety of part songs, will give plenty of scope for restrained and expressive singing, clear-cut contrasts and stirring chorus work and with the specially decorated stage and lighting effects the necessary atmosphere to enjoy it will be provided. Apart from the part singing, male choir concerts are always interesting because of the quality of the soloists, and to-morrow evening will be no exception. To describe their items in a few words — they should be brilliant, educative and highly satisfying. Miss Gaynor Paape (soprano, of Dunedin), Max Roland and his five talented sisters (Viennese orchestra in national costume), Mr Robert Henry (solo pianist), Messrs Rewi Kingsland and Frank Johnson (operatic duets), Dr. Brown, Mr W. Farley, Rev. C. H. Olds and Mr J. E. Taylor (quartettes), should all provide delightful items. The Male Choir is serving a highly useful purpose in the musical life of the city and deserves your support. The admission prices are exceptionally low, dress circle and all stalls (2/6 reserved), 2/- (unreserved), and Gallery 1/-. The booking will be heavy to-day at Chas. Begg and Co., Esk street. Make sure of a good seat too, by reserving.
