MANSON—DONNELLY. A pretty wedding was solemnized by the Rev. E. Gardiner at Mr and Mrs A. J. Manson's residence, Gorge Road, on October 18, when Charles Howie, youngest son of Mrs B. and the late Mr Hugh Manson, and Matilda Mary, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Donnelly, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. The bride, who owing to the unavoidable absence of her father, was escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr W. O’Bourne, wore an ankle-length frock of ivory satin. She also wore a beautiful veil and the customary orange blossoms and carried a gorgeous bouquet, the gift of Mrs Collins, Invercargill. Her friend, Miss A. Holland, attended as bridesmaid, wearing a frock of blue crepe satin and hat and shoes to tone. She carried a bouquet of pink tulips and camellias. Mr John Cunningham carried out the duties of best man and Mona and Rosemary Chaney, nieces of the bride, acted as flower girls and carried dainty baskets of flowers. They wore ankle frocks of blue and pink respectively. After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the sunroom to partake of the wedding breakfast. The usual toasts were honoured. The threetiered wedding cake was made by Mrs J. Crosbie, aunt of the bridegroom. Later the young couple left for their honeymoon in Central Otago. The bride wore an ensemble of black and white with hat to match. Prior to her wedding the bride was given an evening by the W.D.F.U., when she was the recipient of many useful gifts. BUCKINGHAM—HOLMES. At St. John’s Church, on the evening of October 21, the wedding was solemnized of Mona Augusta, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. P. Holmes, Invercargill, and Robert Alenzo, son of Mr and Mrs R. C. Buckingham, Waikiwi. Archdeacon Lush performed the ceremony and Miss Mavis Wesney presided at the organ. The church was prettily decorated for the occasion by girl friends of the bride.

The bride, escorted by her father, wore a frock of primrose satin beaute cut on long straight lines with tightfitting sleeves puffed at the elbow. Her tulle veil was caught at the sides with orange blossom and fell to the ground to form a train. She wore a string of pearls and carried a sheaf of lilies Miss Agnes Gorinski, the bridesmaid, wore a grey elephant cloth frock trimmed with red chiffon velvet and made on tight-fitting lines. Her puffed sleeves, sash and neckline-bow were all of red velvet and she wore matching hat and shoes. Her bouquet was of tulips. Mr Cyril Buckingham carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony the reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother, where the guests were received by Mrs Holmes and Mrs Buckingham. Mrs Holmes wore a brown crinkley crepe frock trimmed with mustard and a hat to match, and Mrs Buckingham wore a smart black tailored coat with black hat. For travelling, the bride wore a tomato crinkley crepe frock with a fawn tailored coat and beige straw hat. Prior to the wedding Miss Gorinski was hostess at a knick-knack evening in honour of the bride. Mr and Mrs Buckingham will live in Grace street.
