NOTICES TO THE HOUSE. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter). Wellington, October 26. Provision for keeping a check on the voting of Maoris at the General Elections is made in a Bill that is to be introduced into the House of Representatives by Mr J. Tirikatene. Notice of his intention to introduce an Electoral Amendment Bill was given this afternoon. The Bill provides that each candidate for a Maori electorate may, or if he omits to do so, his nominators together by writing under his or their hands appoint one scrutineer for each booth, such scrutineers to be present while the voting is taking place and when the votes are being counted. Mr W. E. Barnard gave notice of his intention to introduce a Family Allowances Amendment Bill. The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Amendment Bill (Mr M. J. Savage) was introduced and read a first time.
