RISING IN SIAM

A rising has occurred among the troops in Eastern Siam who have captured Donmuang aerodrome, which is a regular landing stage on _ the air services to Europe. Thirteen kilometres from Bangkok the rebel troops encountered the Government forces from the capital. Firing occurred, but there are no details. Martial law has been proclaimed. Their Majesties are staying at the seaside. Armed guards have been placed at the legations and foreign banks. The population of Bangkok is quiet. The Siamese Consul at Singapore expects the Government to restore normality within two or three days.
