DR MAURICE O’REILLY. (United Press Assn— Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.0 p.m.) Sydney, September 24. The death has occurred of Dr Maurice O’Reilly, rector of St.. Johns Roman Catholic College within the University of Sydney, aged 66.

MR JUSTICE RANEY. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.5 p.m.) Toronto, September 24. Mr Justice W. E. Raney, of the Supreme Court of Ontario, a former Attorney-General of Ontario, died today at the age of 74.

MRS H. B. IRVING. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) London, September 25. The death has occurred of Mrs H. B. Irving, the original “Trilby.” Mrs Irving, who was formerly Miss Dorothea Baird, made her first appearance on the stage with the Oxford University Dramatic Society as Iris in “The Tempest,” in 1894.. Her first London appearance was in 1895, at the Metropole Theatre, as Hippolytha in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and she created something of a sensation when she appeared later at the Haymarket with Beerbohm Tree in the title role in “Trilby.” She was married to H. B. Irving in 1896 and appeared with him in a number of plays. In 1906 she visited America and on her return to England she appeared with , great success as Lavinella Orsini in “Ceasar Borgia.” She accompanied her husband to Australia in 1911. Since her retirement from the stage she had devoted herself to infant welfare work.
