SLANDER ACTION

WILLIS-LANG CASE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.10 p.m.) Sydney, September 25. The evidence has concluded in the slander action in which Mr A. C. Willis is claiming £20,000 from Mr J. T. Lang. Mr Lang did not enter the witness box. Counsel was addressing the jury when the hearing was adjourned. The suit arises from the Bulli byelection campaign, plaintiff , alleging that Mr Lang addressed public meetings at which he inferred that Mr Willis was under the domination and influence of the political opponents of the Labour movement which seriously prejudiced his candidature as a Labourite; also that an attempt was made to hound him out of public life. Plaintiffs counsel made frequent references to Mr Lang’s debenture of £13,000 over the Labour Daily newspaper, and said he would prove by cheques that £5OOO which Mr Lang said he had advanced to that newspaper had been drawn from the party funds.
