Over 200,000 cows were culled annually in the Dominion, it was stated at a recent meeting of the South Taranaki Herd-Testing Association at Hawera. Complaint that the droving of large herds of cattle along roads in the district was causing excessive damage to road surfaces was made at a meeting of the Tuakau Town Board. It was decided to communicate with other local bodies affected, pointing out that stock, to some degree, could be transported by rail.
