SOUTH INVERCARGILL

MEETING OF BOROUGH COUNCIL. OFFICERS’ REPORTS. The monthly meeting of the South Invercargill Borough Council was held last evening. There were present ; His Worship the Mayor (Mr William McChesney) and Councillors A. V. Hope, T. W. Richards, O. H. Paton, G. Dickson, E. McNeill and G. Smith. The borough foreman (Mr J. A. McMillan) in his monthly report stated that 351 yards of Oreti gravel had been spread on the roads. Surfacing had been carried out on McQuarrie, Scott, Stirratt, Kelly, Dipton, Bain and Brown streets and Avon, Bluff, Elies and Tramway roads. The unemployed were working on Boxall road. In the course of his monthly report the inspector of nuisances (Mr G. Nicol) stated that a great deal of trouble had not been experienced with wandering stock on the roads. The reports were adopted.
