The Britannia arrived from Stewart Island at 9.45 a.m. yesterday with a cargo of cased fish. , , . „ ( , Three vessels arrived in the space ot a quarter of an hour yesterday morning and the wharf presented a busy appearance throughout the day. Two of the ships sailed the same evening, however, the overseas steamer Otira being the only one remaining in port. _ , The Canterbury Shipping Company s coastal steamer Storm from Lyttelton berthed early yesterday morning. After discharging and loading general cargo she sailed ih the evening for Dunedin. , The Union Company’s intercolonial freighter Wainui arrived from Oamaru at 4.15 am. yesterday. She loaded cargo and mails lor Australia and sailed in the evening for Melbourne. , , Messrs Henderson and Co. Ltd. advise that s.s. Port Pirle direct from the United Kingdom is expected to arrive at Bluff tomorrow afternoon to load refrigerated and general cargo for London. She is expected to sail for Port Chalmers at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 29th inst. Messrs H. L. Tapley advise that the Canterbury Steam Ship Company’s Calm is due to reach Bluff from Lyttelton on July 8. After discharge and then loading Southland produce, she will sail for Dunedin and her usual noithern ports the same day. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Challenger is now set down to reach Bluff on July 6, sailing the same day for New York direct. . The Union Company’s Waipiata is to clear Auckland on Thursday for Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. Due here on July 6 the vessel will sail on the 7th for Wellington and Auckland, via ports. The Union Steam Ship Company advise that the Wainui is to clear Melbourne on July 5 for Bluff direct. Reaching Bluff on Monday, the 11th. the vessel will sail the Same day for Dunedin, Lyttelton and WellingtonThe Union Company’s Waikouaiti was scheduled to clear Sydney yesterday for Bluff where she is due on Saturday morning. The vessel will sail the same day for Dunedin and northern ports. The Greek tanker Irini. which is reported to have cleared Constantinople on June 11, has a full cargo of bulk petrol for the Associated Motorists’ Petrol Company. The vessel will unload at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is scheduled to reach Auckland about July 16. Advice has been received by the C. and D. Line that the Port Melbourne, which left Auckland on May 6, arrived at London on June 18. The New Zealand Shipping Company s motor ship Otaio, which is scheduled to leave Liverpool for New Zealand on July 29, will unload at Nelson, as well as Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin and New Plymouth. She is due at Auckland about September 6. The Canadian Challenger arrived at Auckland on Thursday from Montreal, via Brisbane. The vessel has cargo for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Wanganui and Lyttelton. The steamer Fife is reported to have cleared Galveston. Texas, on June 9 with a cargo of sulphur for New Zealand. She is a British vessel and is owned at New-cnstle-on-Tyne. England. She was formerlv a Norwegian steamer and her name then was the Penybryn. She was one of the vessels that went to the assistance of the Union Company’s steamer Tahiti when that vessel was foundering in the Pacific in August, 1930. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Wellington was to leave Port Kembla on Friday for Auckland to commence loading in New Zealand. The vessel’s loading ports are Auckland, Gisborne Lyttelton and Wellington. She is scheduled to clear Wellington for London, via Las Palmas on July 13. The German four-masted auxiliary barque Magdalene Vinnen. which visited Auckland last February, will return to New Zealand about the end of this year. On her last visit the vessel brought a quantity of cork from Spain. She then loaded an Australian wheat cargo for Europe, and now she has been chartered to load guano at Seychelles Islands for New Zealand in October. The Magdalene Vinnen is one of the largest sailing ships afloat, and during the time she was at Auckland she attracted considerable attention. She is a steel vessel of 3476 tons, and was built at Kiel in 1921 by the Krupp Shipbuilding Company. OTIRA AT BLUFF. The Shaw. Savill and Albion steamer Otira arrived at Bluff at 4 a.m. yesterday and later began her Southland loading for the Home market. Leaving London on April 26 for Australia and New Zealand, Port Said was reached on May 6 and Fremantle on May 28. The Otira left again the following dav for her other Australian ports. Adelaide. Melbourne. Sydney, ana Brisbane. From the last-named she sailed on June 13 for New Zealand and arrived at Napier on the 19th, to sail again on the 23rd for Bluff. The voyage from the Old Country was a fair one throughout. Loading of the Southland portion of her Home cargo was started yesterday morning and should be completed to-morrow, departure being timed for Wednesday afternoon. Her other Dominion ports will be Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington and she is scheduled to finally sail from the latter for London via Cape Horn on July 5. Captain W.
