COLAC BAY NOTES

KITCHEN EVENING. (From Our Correspondent.) In honour of her approaching marriage to Mr Kirk Bonney, of Longwood, a kitchen evening was tendered to Miss R. White in the Drill Hall on Monday, June 19. In making the presentation of the gifts, Mr E. McCulloch extended the best wishes of those present to Miss White and Mr Eonney and wished them every happiness in their future married life. Mr L. A. Dutton endorsed Mr McCulloch’s remarks. Mr Bonney replied on behalf of Miss White, thanking those present for the many gifts. Mr White also expressed his thanks. Music for the dancing was supplied by Messrs Te Au, Gregg and Egerton while Mesdames L. A. Dutton and H. Valintine played extras. Mr J. Fisher acted as M.C. Amongst those present were: Mesdames White, Whittle, Fisher, Evans, Egerton, Patterson, Dawson, Valintine, C. ’’Goodwillie, L. A. Dutton; Misses White, Cleaver (3), Wixon, Lee, Wadsworth (2), Egerton. Misses White, Bonnney, L. A. Dutton, Fisher, Belsham (2), Lee, Sheehan, Gregg, Egerton, Latchford, Dallas, Donaldson, Dawson, Sullivan,Whittle, Te Au, Cleaver (3), Budolph, McCulloch, Connelley, C. Goodwillie, Williams, Hodges and Robertson. Before leaving Invercargill Miss White was also the recipient of a gift evening from Mrs Perry, of Georgetown. The prize winners of the euchre held at Round Hill on Wednesday, June 14, were: Ladies’ Mrs Aberdeen, consolation, Miss Neilson; men, first Mr Pollard, consolation Mr Forsyth. On Wednesday 21st, the local basketball team journeyed to Riverton to play a friendly game with the Riverton Club and defeated the Riverton team by 14 goals to 8. Mrs Lyng refereed the game.
