RIVERSDALE NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.) In conjunction with the Plunket Society’s euchre tourney on Tuesday night a kitchen evening was held in honour of Miss Dora Ryan. There was a very good attendance, Miss M. Dillon winning the ladies’ prize and Mr J. Stevenson the men’s. Miss M. Shea and Mr J. Kelly secured second places in the ladies ’and men’s divisions respectively. At the conclusion of the card tourney Mr J. C. Macpherson, on behalf of those present, called upon Miss Ryan, the guest of the evening; to accept the numerous gifts with which her many friends were presenting her. Mr Macpherson stated that Miss Ryan was departing from the district where she had spent all her life, but was doing so with the best wishes of all her friends.
Mr Campbell, who also spoke, said that the gifts with which Miss Ryan was being'presented were a good indication of the worth of the recipient. Mr Campbell wished her and her future husband the best of luck in their future careers.
Mr D. Lynch spoke on similar lines. Mr Lyons, on behalf of his fiancee, thanked those present for their gifts and for the pleasant evening. Miss Ryan, he was sure, would take with her none but the best of memories of her sojourn in Riversdale. The evening closed with a dance, music being supplied by Mrs Ibbotson, and Messrs F. and P. Shallard. Mr H, Greer was M.C.
